Dearest NY,
I could only wish that I could afford to live here and handle the stuff that you (NY) throw at me. I can no longer take your taxing abuse. I have not been able to work in four years, I grew up in Rochester but moved away after I was married.
It was a bittersweet decision to leave NH a state that I loved and move back to NY in 2010. NH is a state with a lower than average tax basis and a state that allowed for freedom to live life. Live Free or Die is our motto.
I felt that the state of NH so many years ago, took me in as one of their own. I loved living there. It was very rare that I had a bad day.
Living here in NY and the punishing, crushing taxes that I have to endure here, when a state such as NH can have higher property values and a lower tax bracket, balanced budgets and non career state reps to represent the people.
Why can't the other states follow the leader? If one state is doing something well, then other states should be able to adopt the same policies and be just as successful. This is what I learned in business, duplicate what the successful people do. You and me should get the same results.
I struggled to make it here in NY without going broke, sorry the money is running out and there is no relief in sight for this creative marketer. I just couldn't take it any longer, I will say that I hated living here in NY.
I cried for many days, because of the struggle. I love my family, but if I cannot support myself here, it doesnt make sense to stay here. It doesnt make sense to share my hard earned dollars with a state that throws good money after bad. I cannot live like this in the real world. If I dont have enough to pay the bills, then I have to cut something out of the budget to be able to make it the next month. It is on a month by month basis.
I don't have any confidence in that state of NY to ever fix this huge problem. The rest of NY should not have to subsidize NYC. They should be an entity unto itself. The population of NYC is so huge, it is unbelievable, that anyone other than the rich can afford to live there.
Now here are my thoughts about Rochester. Rochester is a great city that has suffered for many years of declining population and rising costs of living and losing many employers. I heard that Rochester is coming alive again, not too sure about this fact, but I only wish this to be true.
Rochester is a wonderful place, so many activities and a good road system and many wonderful people whom I have come to appreciate and love. If I could pick up the people and places that I love in Rochester and take them with me I would.
People in general don't have a problem with paying a fair share of the taxes, it is just when it gets so suffocating that people have to make a choice between food and taxes, that is when this becomes a huge problem. People will pay taxes when they are fair and balanced and the abuse of the money is a thing of the past.
People in NY do not know any better when it comes to the tax burden. They are like sheeples. This is just normal for them.
Good Bye NY, I dont know if I will ever return to NY other than to visit. I will take my money with me.
